  • How to Configure TIBCO Messaging Castle Powered by Apache Kafka with MirrorMaker 2 between two clusters on AWS

    Richard Flather

TIBCO Messaging Castle Powered by Apache Kafka MirrorMaker provides a mechanism to copy data from one  Castle cluster to another for replication/disaster recovery purposes. Previous versions of MirrorMaker only provided replication from one cluster to another. MirrorMaker 2.0 (MM2) can now be configured bi-directional to create an Active/Active configuration. Additionally, MirrorMaker 2.0 is not limited to just two Castle clusters. Multiple clusters can be replicated via MirrorMaker 2.0.

The purpose of the document is to provide a guide to configure, and run TIBCO Messaging Castle Powered by Apache Kafka MirrorMaker 2.0 (MM2) on Amazon Web Service (AWS) between two AWS regions in an Active/Active configuration. The same configuration can be used to configure Kafka MM2 between two Kafka Clusters in different AWS Zones in the same region, or between two private data centers outside of AWS.

    The document will outline:

    1) Configuring MirrorMaker 2.0 in an active/active configuration between two Apache Kafka clusters
    2) Testing MirrorMaker 2.0 replication between two Apache Kafka clusters
