XML Component gets error after recent Microsoft update (Scribe Insight)

XML Component (used for realtime publishing of CRM record updates) is throwing this error:

"An item could not be added to a collection object - Database.AddFieldInformation - Invalid procedure call or argument"

And this seems to be caused by a recent Microsoft update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4512488/windows-8-1-update-kb45...

 

What workarounds exist for this error
