Using a data function to write to table

Is it possible to use a data funciton to write to a static notes table I have a dynamic table that is loaded from an informaiton link and may include any number of IDs from a DB of millions of samples. I would like to create a file that allows the user to select a sample from this dynamic table, write notes in an input box, and have the notes and associated sample ID stored in a static table as a permanent record. New data will be loaded regularly into the dynamic table but I woudl like the notes table to be available in case a sample is loaded that has hadnotes associated to it.
