Is there a way to skip workitem for the creator of the record

We have a scenario where when a reocrd gets created, it should generate workitem for all the people having a particular role, but only skip the person who created the record. Like suppose, I created a record then everyone in having same role as mine should get workitem except myself. Is this possible Please guide me what needs to be changed in the workflow.
