Using values from property control slider as input for a data function

I have a column property that I adjust using a property control slider. The property is specific to small groups of filtered rows. I would like to insert an action control that writes the property to the current unfiltered rows when I hit the action button. I will then change the filtering, adjust the property with the slider, and capture the new value to the new filtering with the action button. The result should be a new column with values for each row set by my slider and captured by the action control. Does anybody have a data function that can do this
