Migrate data to Microsoft Dynamics CRM Notes
Hello, I have to migrate the data to MS CRM from SQL SERVER. But some field of SQL Server I have to migrate as a notes either as attachment or as text in the entity with some condition? Please let me know how to proceed. Thanks in advance.@Rob Moulton @TJ McDowell @Martin Wegner @Scott Frager @Audrey Buettner
Bipin, and to help clarify (adding to what Martin said), the records that are just notes will import as Annotations with IsDocument = False, and attachments will import as Annotations with IsDocument = True. For the note, the large text field maps to the large text field in CRM, but for the Attachment you'll want to have a binary field in SQL containing the attachment data in it, which imports into the binary field in CRM. If you don't have the attachment in that format, then there are a few other options, but they may involve using another adapter to get the file. Depends on where the files are actually stored (in the database or on the local drive).
Thank you for the details.
In this case, there two blogs posts, which should help you. Both describe how to migrate data into the annotation (note) entity in CRM in detail:
Actually I have some data in table of SQL Server in some field which I want to migrate as a notes. Now the thing is there can be two types of notes one with attachment and one as a text only. So how I can migrate that data into the notes of any entity. Hope it clears if you still have some understanding issues let me know.
