Need help to parse filter from filtercollection via Python Script

I am looking for some assistance with the script below.  The script works correctly, but the result includes the Filter name along with the current selection of the filter. I need to remove the Filter name along with the extra characters, so that the result only includes the actual filter selection.

As an example, if the Filter name is "Business Unit" and the current filter selection is "Option A" then:

  - the result from the script is:  Business Unit: (Option A)
  - and what I really need is:       Option A

Any help would be greatly appreciated. The script I'm running is below:

from Spotfire.Dxp.Application.Filters import *
from Spotfire.Dxp.Data import *
filteringScheme = Document.FilteringSchemes[0]
dataTable = Document.ActiveDataTableReference
filterCollection = filteringScheme[dataTable]
filter = filterCollection['Business Unit']
Document.Properties["BUSINESSUNIT"] = filter.ToString()
