Introduction

What is TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire®?

TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® allows individuals and teams of analysts, business authors and data consumers to collaborate and perform business analytics. Cloud Analysts have access to a powerful desktop client for authoring and advanced analytics as well as a web client for authoring and on-the-go collaboration.  Cloud Business Authors have access to our powerful web client for authoring and on-the-go collaboration.  Cloud Consumers can view any analyses shared with them by other authors via a powerful web client.

What features are available with TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire®?

What clients does a TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® Analyst get access to?

TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® Analyst seats include a Cloud desktop client (different than the Spotfire Desktop or on-premises clients) and a Cloud Business Author web client (this is the same as the on-premises Business Author web client).

What clients does a TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® Consumer get access to?

TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® Consumer seats include a view-only web client.


Architecture & Environment

Is TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® an IaaS, PaaS or SaaS solution?

TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® is a Software-as-a-Service or SaaS product.  We manage a multi-tenant, highly secure environment for all of our Cloud trial users and customers.  Our tenants’ data, dashboards, analyses, users, and settings are completely isolated from those of other tenants.

Is TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® hosted on TIBCO’s infrastructure or on that of a third party?

We utilize Amazon Web Services as our Infrastructure-as-a-Service environment provider. 

How is TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® Operations team structured and distributed?

We have a globally distributed Cloud Operations team.  The team includes individuals with a broad range of IT knowledge and experience.

How can TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® be scaled out to serve 100's and 1000's of users?

Our Cloud Operations team can scale our SaaS environment up or down dynamically, and as needed to meet capacity across the globe.  We have monitoring and automation services built to manage scaling.


Data Access & Connectivity

How do TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® SaaS customers connect to their data sources?

TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® allows you to upload data from .csv and excel files as well as connect directly to Google Analytics and Salesforce.Com. The downloadable cloud analyst client allow you to import data from another 25+ data sources and publish them as embedded datasets for web-based analysis and consumption.  For a full list of available data connections, please go here.

Is Advanced Data Services or Composite available to TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® SaaS customers?

No, not today. There are no server-side connectors available with this product

Who can access Cloud SaaS data and for what purpose?

Only the assigned group administrator or Analyst users has rights to author and edit using their Cloud account.  The Analyst user will choose which client-side data connections to make and will embed the data they want to analyze in the Spotfire DXP file before it is shared or published.

One important data security consideration: All data saved to Public folders in the user’s Cloud Library is public and accessible on the internet.  Users who want to keep their data private should save their DXP files within a private folder.  Users can still safely and securely share a private folder with another individual within the account without sharing it publicly. 


Data Centers

Where is the TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® Environment hosted?

Today, TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® is hosted in Amazon’s US East data center because the vast majority of our users are within closest proximity to this data center.  For more information on Amazon’s regional data centers, go here:  http://aws.amazon.com/about-aws/global-infrastructure/

Can customers who require that certain data be stored physically in a specific country (e.g., Germany) or a specific data center use TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® today?  How does TIBCO ensure that the data is not stored (or cached) in other locations?

Today, we do not offer TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® hosted in specific data centers outside of US East. However, our Spotfire Cloud Enterprise solution can be hosted and managed in the data center of the customer’s choice.  For more information, please contact our sales team here


Data Security

What systems do you have in place to prevent illegal access to TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® environments?

All applications are deployed in an Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (http://aws.amazon.com/vpc/). The load balancer is securely accessible over port 443. All other applications are in a private subnet and no access is allowed.

What's your policy for notifying customers of a security breach and your time frame for doing so?

Yes, we would notify all customers of a security breach as soon as we were aware that a breach had occurred and that the breach had impacted the individual customer’s system.  We have never experienced this situation to date.

Has TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® opted into the US-EU Safe Harbor process?

TIBCO and all Spotfire Cloud products are independently TRUSTe certified (including EU Safe Harbor Framework, Privacy Certification and Trusted Cloud: http://www.tibco.com/company/privacy

Does TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® comply with EU Directive 95/46/EC on the protection of personal data?

Yes, we do comply with this Directive.

How does TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® handle the archiving, retention or (automated) deletion of corporate data?

We have established a policy of archiving a customer’s configuration settings and Spotfire analyses (dxp files) for 60 days after a contract expires for the express purpose of having that environment ready should the customer decide to renew their services.  60 days after a contract has lapsed or been terminated, the customer’s TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® configuration settings and Spotfire analyses (dxp) files are destroyed and will not be recoverable should the customer decide to work with us at a later time.

What is TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® Disaster Recovery plan?

TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® is deployed via Amazon Web Services. The disaster recovery plan leverages the Amazon Web Services APIs to create periodic backups of the full stack. Under normal conditions, the environment can be fully restored within hours.

What network communications hardware and bandwidth provisions does TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® use?

We use Amazon EC2 instances that are categorized as having high networking performance (http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/instance-types/).


Encryption

How is the data secured on the Cloud servers?

All external communication is encrypted through a network appliance that communicates directly with the applications within a private (isolated) network, the network appliance uses ACLs (Access Control Lists) to restrict what type of communication is allowed and the application handles authorization/authentication.  One important note on data storage:  If a user decides to save an analysis file with embedded data, this data is stored in the TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® environment.


Product Upgrades

Does Spotfire manage all aspects of product upgrades, hot fixes, service packs and security patches for Cloud customers?

Yes, this is an important feature of TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® and one that saves our customers time and money.  Our Cloud SaaS product is always kept up-to-date on the latest version of our product, so new features are available to Cloud users first.

How does TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® communicate about scheduled system maintenance?

We have a policy of alerting customers to scheduled maintenance windows at least 5 business days in advance of the window.  We reach out to account owners via email to give them notice of scheduled maintenance.  We also post a message to the TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® website at the same time. In addition, we schedule maintenance during off-business hours to provide as little impact to our users as possible.  Typical maintenance windows begin at 10 pm ET.


Product Support

What type of support do TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® customers receive?

All Spotfire Cloud customers have access to the following:

  • Online User Guide & reference materials
  • Online video tutorials and webinars
  • Online Community Forum
  • Online Support cases can be submitted by logging into the product, navigating to the in the top navigation bar and choosing, "Support"

Staging Environments

Can customers purchase a test or staging environment to test future versions of Cloud on?

There is no staging/test model with Cloud SaaS today and none planned for the future.  We do our best to inform customers about upcoming releases, changes in systems requirements that might impact their users, etc., but the Cloud product is always kept current on the latest version of the product.


Customizations

Can customers purchase a test or staging environment to test future versions of Cloud on?

There is no staging/test model with our Spotfire Cloud SaS product today.  Spotfire Cloud Enterprise customers can purchase any number of production and QA/staging environments they desire.


Uptime, Downtime and SLAs

Do we currently offer an SLA to Spotfire Cloud SaaS customers?

We work to maintain uptime of 99.9%, but do not guarantee or have an uptime rebate program at this time.  We publish and share external uptime program details upon request.
