BW6.X - Something important not to forget when installing a BusinessWorks 6.X hotfix

Everybody knows how to install a BusinessWorks 6.X hotfix by running the TIBCO Universal Installer but there is something more to do that is often missed.

If you look carefully at the Hotfix readme file you will notice there are some additional steps to do to complete the hotfix installation:

Those steps are to update the BusinessWorks WEB Application managing the BusinessWorks panels in the TEA and it is important to complete them to be sure not to miss important fixes for this component.

For example the HF04 for BusinessWorks 6.6.0 bring a useful ‘Refresh’ button in the agent tab of the BusinessWorks perspective :

At this stage you may think this is a bit complicated to install a BusinessWorks 6.X hotfix, in fact in the common case where no users or roles have been created for the target bwagent you can replace the steps from 1 to 8 above by just unregistering the bwagent and re-registering it. Once done don’t forget to refresh the cache in your browser.

Summary

When installing a BusinessWorks 6.X hotfix it is important to refresh the BusinessWorks WEB application in the TEA, if no users or roles have been created for the target bwagent this can be done by simply unregistering the bwagent and re-registering it otherwise you have to follow the steps from the readme file.
