File corrupted while creating xlsx/xlsm file in TIBCO BW 6.4.2

We have a requirement to create a file. The content of the file comes as a payload in the API call. The filename and extension come in the path param. In one such request the payload is binary data and i need to create xls/xlsm file. Kindly let us know if anyone has worked on similar requirement or have any inputs regarding how can i create the xls/xlsm file. I am using write file activity to create the file, on trying to open the file a message is displayed saying file is corrupted.

If the binary payload contains the XLS file using write file activity with 'Binary' format should be enough
