creating a blank template to hold columns coming in from database query

My data table gets constructed through database queries - while some columns are direct table columns others get created through a pivot operation. Depending on nature of query different columns get generated through the pivot operation. If I set up a visualization using one query and later on the query parameter changes, a key column I had used in charts does not get generated and hence it gives an error. Is there a way for me to create an initial master template that has all possible columns that can come through database query (and subsequent pivot) - I can then add the contents of DB query to this master table that will have all the columns I need (some of them being blank depending on the query) - question: how do I create such a master template can I just create them in excel and use "paste from clipboard" operation to create the blank table
