Are inherited values persisted in history

Hi!

I have a situation where I need to compute a value for field "status". There is also a requirement to keep track of this field's history. So using computed value doesn't fly out-of-the-box since computed values are left out when history is on.

I then tried to inherit that field "status" within the same table as normal string field. On the user experience level all works just fine. But when trying to export the history it seems that it is not possible to fetch the actual inherited field's value in the file dump.

I'm guessing this is intended behavior I just wanted to know is it possible without JAVA coding to achieve this sort of behavior where computed value could be persisted somehow

I'm running 5.9.13, haven't investigated yet the version 6 scripting possibilities.
